Read: 7/22/13
Series: 1 NightStand #17

Book Description:
At the end of his obligated commitment to the Space Service, Frey Berger decides to stay on Earth to further experience human emotions rather than return to Ginnun where his intended has already mated with another. Looking for real love and someone to accept him for what he is, Frey enlists in Madame Evangeline’s popular dating service. Although he does not understand the concept of a one-night stand, he hopes to find his perfect mate. If he fails, he risks being alone on Earth for the rest of his life.

Carrie Cooper’s husband divorced her for another woman who could provide him with children, leaving her with little self-confidence and no desire to let a man hurt her again. When her best friend convinces her to join a dating service, Carrie decides one night of passion is harmless since there’s no commitment after the night is over.

Although several misunderstandings nearly derail them before the date even begins, Frey and Carrie end up closer than they ever believed possible. Still, Frey needs to convince Carrie her perfect mate isn’t human at all, and that one night can lead to a forever love.

Review:
Frey Berger, an alien on a mission to Earth decides not to return to his home planet of Ginnun, where emotions and feelings are discouraged.  His intended mate already chose another over him, so Frey has no reason to go back and he likes human emotions, he wants to experience more.  Frey contacts 1NightStand dating service to find his true mate who would accept his true self and experience love.  Carrie was deeply hurt when her high school sweetheart asked for a divorce when medical issues prevented her from conceiving.  Three years after the divorce, Carrie’s best friend convinces her that she needs a little fun in her life, and whether it is just for only one night.
The night is off to a rocky beginning, but there is chemistry between Carrie and Frey.  Frey is worried about being accepted for himself and loved while Carrie has such a low confidence that she thinks Frey wouldn’t want to see her past tonight and she already knows she wants more. Even with the rocky start, they find out a lot about each other, both share their past and secret and all of it culminates into a great night of passion.  Carrie leaves without saying goodbye and Frey must find a way to convince her they belong together and he is in it for the long haul.
The author does a wonderful job conveying both of their emotions, desires and insecurities.  Frey and Carrie had a great connection and their vulnerabilities just endeared them to me even more.  There is a lot of sexual tension and the author does a great job of the love scene.  I love the fact that the hero is a virgin of sorts, but a quick learner.  Subject did a great job with a short story, it kept me engaged in the story and I only wish it was longer, but I loved the ending.  A great read of a new author.

“I can’t make you believe anything, but Carrie, you are my only mate. I never have and never will be with another. If you are not with me, I will live and die alone.” - Frey
